Kids of Nature is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO#064-256). It was founded in March 2008 and, thanks to a small group of dedicated volunteers and the support of sponsors and donors, it has achieved the following success stories.

The initiative's research pilot project resulted in valuable insights that serve as a foundation for the organisation's core programme. It also identified role models who now try to engage their communities in conservation and spread the word to other communities.

The field trips in 2008 and 2009 resulted in collaboration with indigenous communties (San in the Kalahari and Nama in the Richtersveld Conservancy), as well as visuals for the photographic library and a draft script for the stories. The trips also generated the interest of indigenous communities to grow their own projects in conjunction with Kids of Nature.

The first phase of the marketing strategy resulted in an informative website and bi-weekly e-newsletters to 3500 subscribers. Kids of Nature's well ranked internet presence has evoked the interest of the media. Magazines have offered free space for the organisation's editorials, TV channels free slots and radio stations call for interviews.

The bi-weekly newsletter resulted individuals and organisations expressing their interest in collaborating and/or in setting-up a chapter of Kids of Nature in other parts of the country and abroad. Other organisations want to integrate Kids of Nature's material into their programmes for their beneficiaries.

In December 2009 we published our first book 'Enya & James - In The Land Of Magic' to address climate change in an entertaining, non-threatening way, and in so-doing contribute to a greener and healthier world. The book is available directly from the Kids of Nature website or can be purchased at selected stores.
