The views over the Helderberg Mountain and False Bay on the one side, and the Hottentots Holland mountain range on the other side are fantastic. The Palmiet Trail is an easy circular route, it's a great family hike and is designed for blind and disabled peole. The are several other trails with different degrees of challenge and duration.

The entrance to the reserve is at Nuweberg, high in Viljoen's Pass between Grabouw and Villiersdorp, 90km south east of Cape Town.

This is a delightful garden for a leisurely stroll and some quiet time in the good company of majestic old trees. The arboretum is a historic tree plantation which was laid out in the 19th century as an experiment with 150 species of trees from temperate countries.

The views from this trail over False Bay and the surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning. Children love the variety as they cross winter streams, walk through different kinds of vegetation and climb rocks on the side.

The trail starts above the yacht club, touches the GB sign and finishes at a tall cross about 3 hours hiking towards Sir Lowry's Pass.

Harold Porter in Betty's Bay has lovely walking trails and little streams that run through the garden. On the wonderful 'Leopard's Kloof' hiking trail it's not uncommon to encounter a baboon or three just past the waterfalls.

Kirstenbosch offers fabulous trails, some through the themed gardens and others right up Table Mountain. The lower parts of the garden are ideal for walking with little ones.
